Experience counts!

Experience counts!
We are very proud of our more than 22 years of experience and success, especially in musculo-skeletal injury cases involving on-the-job injuries, sports injuries, and auto accidents. We are particularly cognizant of the needs of the employer, the employee, and the insurer in treating on the job injuries, which are subject to workers' compensation coverage.

  • We realize the enormous importance of distinguishing between (and the apportionment of ) pre-existing conditions, prior injuries, pathology, and underlying genetic conditions upon which workplace trauma and stress are often superimposed.
  • We know how important it is to keep injured employees on the job if at all possible, and to take all measures needed to get workers back on the job as quickly as possible.
  • We understand workers' compensation coverage is limited to returning workers to pre-injury status or as near so as possible. We also know the importance of using aggressive as well as conservative treatment as the means of reaching our treatment goals in the shortest amount of time and at the least possible cost.

For this reason, we monitor our patients carefully and consistently. We do this to make certain they are responding to treatment at all times, and we discontinue treatment when ever the patient is not making an adequate response.Following the above guidelines and procedures allows us to give employers and employees "the most bang for their buck." In other words, to get the best results in the least amount of time, and at the lowest cost.

Balancing the employer's interest, the employee's interest, and the insurer's interest is not a difficult task for us. That's because we know, without question, what's best for the patient is always in the best interest of the employer, and the insurer- both in the long run and the short run. What is not best for either party is to waste valuable time and resources on unproductive methods or procedures or spending huge sums of money on high-tech examinations, which do not lead to treatment procedures and methods, which benefit and improve the patient's condition.

Diagnostic exams, which do not affect treatment or results, may be enlightening but not effective and therefore wasteful. For this reason, we prefer to take cost-effective courses of testing and treatment, as opposed to the most expensive methods. One of the most cost-effective, diagnostic procedures is called a "trial of therapy." In many cases, a few trial treatments not only bring about a conclusive diagnosis but also a profound change in the patient's status. Only by reducing time and expense can we enhance our reputation and produce the quality of care, and obtain the level of referrals and satisfaction we require.
We would like an opportunity to demonstrate our ability to produce superior health care at reasonable rates.

Superior Results

Superior Results

Superior results in treating on-the-job injuries depend primarily on using the right tool for the right job. That's especially true in the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery of on-the-job injuries. Even the best doctors, without the proper tools, can expect to achieve only mediocre results.
The majority of on-the-job injuries are musculo-skeletal in nature. Chiropractic is focused primarily on the nonsurgical treatment of neuro-musculo-skeletal injuries. Therefore, we have dedicated ourselves to acquiring an extensive variety of specialized, therapeutic equipment and techniques. This allows us to successfully treat a wide variety of on-the-job injuries -ranging from mild sprains and strains to bulging or herniated disks.

Technology

Precision Adjusting Technology
Yesterday's science fiction is now today's science. Not long ago, space ships and rockets to the moon were merely science fiction -but that's not true anymore.
If you've ever watched Star Trek, you have seen science fiction doctors treat their patients with hand-held devices, which rapidly heal the patient. Now science fiction has become science fact and chiropractic is leading the way.
At our office we do traditional manipulation by hand. But in addition we have incorporated into our practice hand held adjusting instruments. Once the fixation and misalignment levels of the spine have been determined, we select the vertebra to be adjusted, and then apply this instrument. The instrument electronically produces a repetitive, duplicable, gentle, pulsing thrust designed to reduce the fixations and misalignments.
Treatments with the computerized adjusting instrument avoid the twisting, snapping, and popping that may accompany manual manipulation. We are proud to be one of the relatively few chiropractic offices in the state of PA to utilize this form of treatment. This is another example of how the right tool for the right job, under the right circumstances, can often produce superior results.

Electrical

Electrotherapy
We are very proud of our electrotherapy department and the various types of electrotherapy we can provide to our patients.
Electrotherapy first began in ancient times when the Greeks used electric eels from the sea to apply electrical stimulation to patients to help control pain, and treat many conditions. At our office we have several kinds of electrotherapy including TENS, PEMS, MENS, and interferential. These provide electrical nerve stimulation, and electrical muscle stimulation.
Each form of electrotherapy provides somewhat different results and, therefore, having different kinds help us treat a wide variety of health conditions. Electrotherapy is not only used for relief but is often beneficial in many chronic conditions and is also used for rehabilitation purposes.
In addition, some forms of electrotherapy are used to increase range of motion in such cases as frozen-shoulder syndrome. Electrotherapy can also be helpful in treating muscle weak- ness -and even some forms of paralysis. We use it frequently for sports injuries, on-the-job injuries, and automobile accident injuries.

Acoustical

Infratonic Therapy
Infratonic Therapy uses low frequency, acoustical vibration. It's designed to help relieve pain or spasm. The acoustical force activates local tissue, moving stagnate and excess fluids from painful areas and drawing in fresh, oxygenated fluids to enhance the healing process, reduce swelling, and help relax spasmed muscles.

    Keep this in mind.
The human body has many different kinds of receptor sites each of which respond to different forms of stimuli, including heat, cold, pressure, electricity, ultraviolet, infrared, and many others. Each of the various forms of stimulation produce different responses in the human body. In many cases it's the body's response to the stimulation, rather than the stimulation itself, which produces the improvement.

That's the reason we have such a wide array of therapeutic methods, techniques, and devices available for treatment and rehabilitation. It's been our experience that Infratonic Therapy tends to generate a bio-positive response on many patients) which no other form of treatment provides.
Infratonic Therapy is another example of where the right tool for the right job, under the right circumstances, can often produce superior results.

Traction

Traction Therapy

Traction has been used for treating human ailments since the days of the early Egyptians - more than 4,000 years ago.
Modem traction methods include both low-tech and high-tech means. These encompass manual traction, mechanical traction, sustained traction and/or intermittent traction, etc.

  • We are extremely proud of our traction therapy department.
  • We have a wide array of traction therapy equipment. Each has its own unique capabilities. For instance, we have specialized traction equipment for neck and arm complaints.
  • We have wrist and elbow traction for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - and other wrist and hand dysfunctions.
  • We have low back traction equipment. It's used to stretch the lower back and spinal disks.
  • We have intersegmental traction which flexes and bends the spine to loosen fixated spinal joints. Our inertial traction tables use momentum to create the traction/ distraction forces.
  • We also use manual traction.

These different forms of traction provide somewhat different treatment effects, which are uniquely suited to the needs of specific patients and conditions.Protocols vary according to the severity of the problem, it's chronicity, and the patient's response to the treatment.
Traction therapy is another example of where the right tool for the job, under the right circumstances, can often produce superior results.

  • Inertial traction utilizes the patient's own body weight and momentum to provide just the right amount of distraction in the spine.

Heat

Diathermy

Short-wave diathermy emits safe, comfortable heat while generating an electromagnetic field that brings soothing relief to patients suffering from back pain, spasm, bursitis, arthritis, and other musculo-skeletal conditions.
Diathermy also acts as a sedative to irritated nerves and induces relaxation and a freer movement of muscles and ligaments. In addition to its healing benefits, diathermy also helps make movement and stretching easier and less painful.

For instance, with an injured or inflamed joint such as sprained knee, hip, back, or frozen shoulder, the treatment objectives are to relieve pain, prevent stiffness, and restore the restricted movement. Diathermy is one of the most effective means for accomplishing these aims because the deep heat relieves the pain, relaxes the muscle fibers, and permits easier movement.
Diathermy also has a soothing and relaxing effect on the type of muscle spasms and contractures often seen in low back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, and some spinal disc problems. This heat, going deep into the structures, can often bring about complete relief that lasts for hours and sometimes for days and weeks at a time. Spastic conditions of the stomach, gall- bladder, and intestines also often respond well to the application of diathermy.
Doctors feel confident using the diathermy and patients love it.

Mobilzation

Intersegmental Mobilzation
Intersegmental mobilization provides gentle mobilization and also flexion-traction of individual spinal segments. It is designed to provide relief from muscle pain, spasm, and many spinal disk problems. The process focuses on the small intrinsic muscles between the vertebrae which often cause fixations of the spinal joints.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound Therapy
Therapeutic Ultrasound is a wonderful and specialized modality for the treatment of a variety of musculo-skeletal injuries. Having ultrasound available can make the difference between success and failure in some cases.

  • Ultrasound is designed to produce heat in tissues exposed to the ultrasound beam.
  • Ultrasound is defined as acoustic energy beyond the audible range (above 20,000 cycles [Hz] per second). The frequencies most often used for therapeutic purposes are usually in the 1 to 3 million Hz range.
  • Ultrasound is particularly effective in treating the deep muscles and tissues involved in joint motion.
  • Ultrasound helps to reduce pain and stiffness, stimulate circulation, and disperse swelling and does it with almost pinpoint accuracy.

Heat is the result of the agitation of molecules. This means even gently vibrating tissues at high frequencies can cause them to heat up. The use of ultrasound for therapeutic purposes allows doctors and therapists to be very selective as to which tissues are heated simply by moving the ultrasound applicator directly and precisely over the area to be treated.
We're proud to have Ultrasound Therapy in our office.

Heat and cold

Therapeutic Heat and Cold
Therapeutic heat and cold have been used throughout history as a highly effective treatment for pain, swelling, and inflammation and to speed up the healing process. Therapeutic heat and cold are especially important in treating musculoskeletal injuries, including sports injuries, workplace injuries, or injuries from other causes.
